Plugin Feedback & Bugs

For any feedback on my plugins or related topics, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

contact@bellsandwhistles.info

You’re of course also encouraged to report any bugs you might encounter. If you do, please include some info to make it easy for me to trace the faulty behavior, like operating system, plugin format (VST or AU), plugin host (which DAW) etc. Most importantly try to explain as clearly as possible under which conditions a bug appears reliably.

My Music (If You Want to Support Me)

Most of the plugins I present here were inspired by situations while producing or performing music. If you’re interested in hearing some of that, you can find my music here:

My solo project „Nagelluck“ on Soundcloud.

Music of the duo „crouds“ on Soundcloud.

All of my plugins are free to download. If you like my work and want to support it, the best way is by buying some of the music I self-released here (pay what you want):

Subvert or Bandcamp

RNBO

I create my plugins using RNBO, which is part of the graphical programming environment Max. It’s probably not what you’d call traditional programming. I don’t consider myself a programmer. I do make these plugins for my own purposes in the first place but I thought some of them might be useful or interesting to other people too. This is not a business.

Using RNBO however comes with some drawbacks. First you might already have noticed, that the GUI of the plugins is very rudimentary. I try to think of that not as a disadvantage and tell myself, that this way you’re not too distracted by some fancy graphics and are encouraged to judge the effect of the plugins using your ears. Some nice lipstick on that pig, right?

Another thing is, when you use a Mac you might run into this issue where the DAW does not want to load the plugin, because it comes from an unknown developer. There are a number of workarounds for that. But not all work for VSTs, because they are not applications themselves but run in a host. Long story short, I would recommend following this guide on Youtube (LINK).

Last but not least, RNBO also allows me to compile the code not as VST but as C++ source code. This might open up interesting ways for custom UIs in the future. But I’m not ready for that yet. If you are experienced with that topic, I would be happy to hear from you! Also RNBO supports exporting the code to run standalone on a Raspberry Pi, which could be very interesting for some sequencer tools I have in the pipeline. Watch out for that 🙂

A Word on A.I.

Btw. In case you care about it: none of my stuff (plugins or music) was made using vibe coding, generative AI, or anything like that.
